Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may soon return to the Premier League after just one season with Beşiktaş. The 31-year-old is reportedly in talks with Brentford, who are interested in bringing him back to English football.
Turkish reports suggest that Ajax, the Dutch giants, are also keen on acquiring his services. Although Oxlade-Chamberlain signed a three-year contract with Beşiktaş last summer, the Turkish club may allow him to leave on a free transfer due to his injury problems.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s time in Turkey has been challenging. Despite scoring four goals in the Super Lig, his persistent injury issues, including a serious thigh injury, have disrupted his ability to maintain consistent form. While his talent is undeniable, his injury history is a major concern. However, if Brentford or Ajax can secure him on a free transfer, the potential benefits could outweigh the risks.
In another transfer development, Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who could return to Germany. After a falling out with United’s head coach Erik ten Hag, Sancho may be available for a loan move. Although a permanent transfer seems unlikely, a loan deal could help Manchester United alleviate Sancho’s £250,000 per week wage bill, even if only temporarily.
Sancho has struggled to find his form at Old Trafford, and if Manchester United do not plan to reintegrate him into the squad, a loan move could be the best solution for all parties. However, it remains uncertain whether Bayern Munich would be willing to cover Sancho’s high wages, making the logistics of this potential transfer challenging.
Meanwhile, Everton are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana as they prepare for the potential departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Due to financial constraints, Everton are aiming for a loan deal for the young French striker. The Toffees also considered Chelsea’s Armando Broja, but the Albanian forward is not interested in a move to Goodison Park.
Fofana had a mixed loan spell at Burnley last season, but his work ethic and physicality could suit Everton’s manager Sean Dyche’s system. Although he has yet to prove himself at the top level, Everton’s lack of depth might force them to take a chance on the 21-year-old. Given their difficult start to the season, Everton may have little choice but to take such risks.
