Arsenal are reportedly considering a surprising move for Kingsley Coman, the Bayern Munich winger. According to the latest information from Football Insider, the Gunners are interested in a season-long loan for the French international.
While Bayern seems open to letting Coman leave the Allianz Arena this summer, they would want an option or obligation to buy included in any loan agreement.
Sources indicate that the 28-year-old would be enthusiastic about the prospect of joining Arsenal, although he would require guarantees regarding his playing time.
Coman is among several wide forwards being monitored by Arsenal as manager Mikel Arteta aims to bolster the squad, particularly to provide support for England star Bukayo Saka, who has few alternatives.
The news of Coman’s availability has attracted attention from top clubs across Europe, with many now keeping an eye on his situation in anticipation of a late bid, according to Insider correspondent Pete O’Rourke. Should Arsenal pursue Coman, they would likely encounter significant competition from other elite clubs on the continent.
The report also outlines that Bayern Munich is seeking a fee in the range of €30 million to €40 million (£25.6 million to £34.2 million) for any potential option or obligation to purchase after the loan period.
Coman joined Bayern from Juventus in 2017 and had previously spent two seasons on loan at the club before making his move permanent. Since then, he has made nearly 300 appearances for the German side, scoring 63 goals and providing 66 assists.
The winger’s impressive resume includes a Champions League title and a Club World Cup winner’s medal, along with 26 additional domestic trophies from his time in Germany, Italy, and France.
Coman would bring a wealth of experience to Arsenal’s relatively young squad; however, his desire for playing time could be a concern. Having featured in only 27 matches last season, he may hesitate to join the Premier League club, especially given Saka’s dominance on the right wing.
Ultimately, while Coman’s addition could strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options, his need for regular playing time and the competition for his signature from other top European teams could complicate the potential transfer.
