BREAKING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid is prepared to offer Rodrygo in a swap deal for Arsenal’s William Saliba. Arsenal is reportedly open to the idea but prefers a combination of a player and cash to facilitate Saliba’s move. Manager Mikel Arteta is a fan of Rodrygo and is willing to consider the trade for the Brazilian forward.

Real Madrid is reportedly pursuing a swap deal with Arsenal, proposing to trade Rodrygo for defender William Saliba. According to a report from Football Transfers, as shared by TBR Football, the Spanish club is eager to secure Saliba, even if it means letting go of the Brazilian forward.

Saliba, regarded as one of the premier defenders globally, plays a vital role in Arsenal’s lineup. At just 23, he has formed an impressive center-back partnership with Gabriel Magalhães, often viewed as one of the strongest defensive duos in the Premier League. Arsenal acquired Saliba from Saint-Étienne in 2019, but he made his debut only in 2022. Since then, he has become essential to Arsenal’s defense, significantly contributing to their title pursuits over the last two seasons.

The French international has 23 caps for his national team and has made 89 appearances for Arsenal. He is contracted with the club until 2027, but reports suggest that Arsenal is keen on negotiating a new long-term deal. Real Madrid, looking to enhance their defensive lineup, is willing to include Rodrygo in a potential deal to bring Saliba to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Rodrygo has been a key player for Real Madrid since joining from Santos in 2019 for €45 million. The adaptable forward has registered 56 goals and 43 assists in 224 matches, helping the club secure 12 trophies. Despite his contributions, Madrid seems ready to let him go to strengthen their defense with Saliba’s addition.

In related transfer news, Arsenal is also in the running with Real Madrid for Argentine prospect Franco Mastantuono. According to TBR Football, the Gunners are determined to outpace Madrid in securing the River Plate talent.

At only 17, Mastantuono has made a significant impact, appearing in 29 senior matches for River Plate. His current contract includes a €45 million release clause. Real Madrid has been a long-time admirer of the young midfielder, known for their successful acquisitions of South American talent. However, Arsenal is reportedly willing to trigger his release clause and make a strong push to bring the highly-rated player to North London.
