BREAKING NEWS:Arsenal vs Leicester City first half live

David Raya has been declared fit and is set to start in a crucial match for Arsenal against Leicester City, providing a significant boost for Mikel Arteta’s side. The Arsenal manager has opted to name an unchanged lineup from last weekend’s intense draw against Manchester City, a match that saw both teams battle fiercely for Premier League dominance.

Defender Jurrien Timber, who picked up a knock during the match at the Etihad Stadium, has also recovered and will be starting against Leicester, a team currently struggling in the league.

Unfortunately, Ben White is absent from the matchday squad altogether, while Bukayo Saka takes on additional responsibilities by wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of regular skipper Martin Odegaard. Leandro Trossard, who was suspended for the previous match, makes his return to the starting lineup.

In his pre-match press conference, Arteta provided updates on the team’s injury situation. Speaking about Timber, Arteta expressed relief, noting that the defender had participated in training ahead of the match and would be available for selection. Arteta also mentioned the hope that Ben White could recover in time, though it appears that hasn’t materialized.

However, Arsenal remains without their influential captain Martin Odegaard, who is sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained during international duty with Norway earlier in the month. The team will also be missing summer signing Mikel Merino, who continues to recover from a shoulder injury but is expected to return to action next week.

According to Arteta, Merino’s progress is promising, and he has been partially involved in training sessions, but the healing process needs to be carefully managed before he can return to full contact.

Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu is still working his way back from a knee injury, and Arsenal are further weakened by the absence of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, and goalkeeper Tommy Setford due to their respective injuries.

The confirmed Arsenal lineup sees Raya in goal, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, and Calafiori in defense, and a midfield consisting of Partey, Rice, and Havertz. Saka, Martinelli, and Trossard complete the attack. The match kicks off at 3 PM BST on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
