BREAKING NEWS:Manchester United vs FC Twente second half live

Marcus Rashford has returned to Manchester United’s starting lineup for their UEFA Europa League opener against FC Twente, as announced by manager Erik ten Hag. The match takes place at Old Trafford and marks the beginning of United’s campaign in the newly expanded Europa League format, which will see them play eight group-stage matches.

Ten Hag has opted for a strong starting XI, with goalkeeper Andre Onana at the back, supported by a defensive line of Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Diogo Dalot. In midfield, Manuel Ugarte, making his second start since joining the club, will partner with Christian Eriksen, while Bruno Fernandes will captain the team from his usual number 10 position.

Upfront, Joshua Zirkzee continues to lead the line, with Rashford returning to his left-wing role after being left out of the starting XI in last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, despite his excellent form, having scored three goals in the two previous games.

On the right flank, Amad Diallo has been selected, while Rasmus Hojlund, who is still building up his fitness, is on the bench. Notably, there is still no starting place for Antony, whose only start this season came in last week’s 7-0 League Cup victory against Barnsley.

Several key players, including Matthijs de Ligt and Kobbie Mainoo, have been rotated out of the starting lineup and will begin the game on the bench. They are joined by the likes of Altay Bayindir, Mason Mount, Hojlund, Casemiro, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans, and young talent Toby Collyer.

The starting lineup chosen by Ten Hag for the FC Twente match features a 4-2-3-1 formation: Andre Onana in goal; a defense of Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, and Dalot; Ugarte and Eriksen in midfield; and an attacking trio of Diallo, Fernandes, and Rashford supporting Zirkzee as the lone striker. This strong lineup reflects United’s intent to begin their Europa League campaign on a positive note.
