Arsenal have received a crucial update regarding Jamal Musiala’s future at Bayern Munich as they continue to track the highly-regarded midfielder for a potential summer transfer. Musiala has emerged as a top target for Arsenal in upcoming transfer windows, despite the club’s financial constraints due to profit and sustainability concerns.

Nico Williams, a winger from Athletic Bilbao, caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, following his impressive displays for Spain during their Euro 2024 victory. Although Williams was linked with a move to Barcelona, he ultimately opted to stay at Athletic Bilbao, committing to the Basque club. Meanwhile, Musiala also attracted interest, notably from Liverpool, but Bayern Munich’s steep £100 million asking price deterred potential bidders, including Arsenal.
Arsenal’s continued interest in Musiala stems from the possibility that Bayern Munich may reconsider his availability in the future. Musiala’s contract with Bayern is set to expire at the end of the 2025/2026 season. If he does not agree to a new contract, next summer could be Bayern’s last chance to sell him before he enters the final year of his deal and becomes a free agent.
Despite the contract situation, Musiala appears content at Bayern. Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, expressed optimism about extending Musiala’s contract, stating, “We want Jamal to stay long-term and help shape an era.” However, with just over 18 months remaining on Musiala’s deal, Bayern must act quickly to avoid losing one of their brightest young talents.
Musiala’s future could also depend on Bayern’s performance this season. A poor campaign could prompt Musiala to reconsider his plans. Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, are making significant progress, and the club’s ambitions may align with Musiala’s own goals. While Musiala is happy at Bayern for now, Arsenal remains hopeful that circumstances could shift in their favor by next summer.
