Thomas Partey has decided to step away from international duty and remain with Arsenal, despite having recently featured in the team’s win against Southampton. The midfielder will not be available for Ghana’s upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) released a statement explaining that Partey is dealing with medical concerns and will undergo further tests arranged by Arsenal.
The statement read, “Thomas is unable to join the Black Stars due to medical issues he is currently experiencing, and his club has scheduled him for further tests in the coming days.”
Although the GFA’s announcement points to medical concerns, it remains unclear whether Partey is suffering from an illness or injury. There has been no official confirmation regarding the exact nature of his condition.
Should this issue result in Partey missing matches for Arsenal after the international break, Football.london has suggested three potential midfield alternatives that could fill his role for the Gunners during his absence.
