Gabriel Jesus, the player in question, has failed to impress this season, going without a goal in his first eight appearances. This underwhelming performance continues a trend since his arrival from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, where he was seen as a major signing for the Gunners.

Costing Arsenal £45 million, Jesus has struggled to find his form, scoring just 19 goals in 77 appearances so far. His time at the club has also been hampered by injuries, including a hamstring issue this season that caused him to miss two weeks.

Despite interest in securing a top striker last summer, Arsenal did not make a significant signing in that position, choosing instead to strengthen other areas with additions like Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.

Notably, there were links to high-profile strikers such as Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyökeres, and Benjamin Šeško. However, Šeško eventually renewed his contract with Red Bull Leipzig, and other transfer pursuits faded.

Šeško, in particular, has started the current season impressively, scoring six goals, including two against Juventus in the Champions League. His performance has reportedly rekindled Arteta’s interest in him, and discussions between Arsenal and Leipzig have reportedly begun.

Although Šeško’s new contract extends until 2029, a release clause of £55 million could allow Arsenal to make a move as early as 2025. His age and talent align well with Arteta’s strategy of building a younger, dynamic squad for the future, making Šeško a possible long-term solution to Arsenal’s striking issues.
