Amid growing transfer links to both Arsenal and Manchester United, Viktor Gyokeres has finally addressed the speculation regarding his future. The Swedish forward, currently playing for Sporting CP, commented on the persistent transfer rumors and spoke about his connection with his former manager, Rúben Amorim.
Gyokeres’ situation has taken on added complexity following Amorim’s recent move to Manchester United. The manager’s shift to the Premier League has intensified speculation around Gyokeres’ potential departure, with reports suggesting that the 26-year-old could be available for a fee between £50 million and £58 million next summer, despite his £83 million release clause.
In an interview with Fotbollskanalen, Gyokeres shared his disappointment over Amorim’s exit, remarking, “It’s extremely disheartening that he is leaving, but we respect his choice. He has been crucial to my growth, giving me the platform to develop and advance.” Amorim’s move has fueled rumors of Manchester United’s potential interest in signing Gyokeres, although the striker has yet to hear directly from the club.
Gyokeres confirmed that he has not been approached by anyone from Manchester United, including Amorim, despite the reports linking him to the club. “No, he has not reached out to me,” Gyokeres noted. “Hearing the rumors is entertaining, but I don’t take them too seriously. It’s all speculation without any real basis.”
When asked about possible moves to other teams, including Arsenal, Gyokeres highlighted the importance of playing a meaningful role wherever he goes. “What’s most important is having a significant role and being able to play regularly,” he said. “I’ll consider any serious offer, but it has to match my career aspirations.”
