Chelsea will head to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in this weekend’s top Premier League matchup.
It’s set to be an intense encounter as Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca aims for his second consecutive league win, while United’s interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy looks to steady the team until incoming head coach Rúben Amorim takes charge.
One notable absence for Chelsea will be Jadon Sancho, one of their standout summer signings. Since joining, Sancho has made a promising start, featuring in five games and contributing three assists.
However, he missed the last league game against Newcastle United due to illness. Although Sancho’s physical condition has been a factor, it’s not the main reason he’ll sit out this weekend.
Sancho, currently on loan from Manchester United to Chelsea, is ineligible to face his parent club as part of the terms of his loan.
Under this agreement, Chelsea will be required to finalize his transfer next summer, but until then, he cannot play against United throughout the 2024–25 season.
Should Sancho recover by next week, he’ll be expected to participate in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League fixture against Noah.
Chelsea will then host Arsenal in another challenging Premier League game before the November international break.
This absence is a blow for Chelsea, but they will be looking to maintain momentum even without him as they strive to remain competitive in a packed fixture list.
