The Uruguayan forward, who has struggled to secure a regular spot in Liverpool’s starting lineup under new manager Arne Slot, has been offered to Barcelona by his representatives. However, Flick is reportedly uninterested, believing that Núñez does not meet the quality required to play for the club, even as a backup for Robert Lewandowski.
Núñez joined Liverpool in 2022 as a marquee signing but has faced challenges adapting to the Premier League. Despite flashes of brilliance and a clear goalscoring instinct, inconsistency has plagued his performances.
With limited opportunities under Slot, he is now considering an exit in search of more playing time. Given Barcelona’s need to find a successor for Lewandowski, Núñez was seen as a potential option, but Flick has firmly rejected this possibility.
