Barcelona is gearing up for a crucial UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash against Borussia Dortmund at the Montjuïc Stadium in Catalonia. The match is vital for Coach Hansi Flick and his team, as they aim for a strong performance at home to secure an advantage before heading to the intimidating Signal Iduna Park for the return leg.
Barcelona is determined to seize control of the tie early, hoping their home support will drive them toward a favorable result.
Meanwhile, off the pitch, Barcelona is facing pressure from Paris Saint-Germain, who are keen on signing young Spanish midfielder Gavi. The French club has reportedly made a strong push to lure him to the Parc des Princes. According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Gavi’s future at the club has been under scrutiny recently.
Although not yet reinstated as a regular starter since his return from injury, Coach Flick has expressed full confidence in the player and even included him in the starting eleven during a recent match against Real Betis—where Gavi marked his return with a goal and a heartfelt celebration with his coach.
Despite the positive moments, Gavi’s current role at Barcelona is not what it once was. Once a key player under former manager Xavi Hernández, Gavi now finds himself struggling to reclaim his place in a stacked midfield, which includes names like Pedri González, Frenkie de Jong, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, and Marc Casadó. His long injury layoff has further complicated his situation, often limiting him to substitute appearances or minor games.
Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique, who gave Gavi his debut for Spain, is reportedly using their close relationship to try and tempt him to France. Both also share the same agent, Iván de la Peña, which could make negotiations easier—just as it did in the case of Ousmane Dembélé, another Barcelona player who moved to PSG and remains a close friend of Gavi.
However, Barcelona isn’t ready to let go of their young star without a fight. Pedri González, a close friend and teammate, has stepped in to encourage Gavi to stay. Pedri believes Gavi can return to top form and has urged him to stay patient and keep working hard, assuring him that his time will come again at Camp Nou.
