According to reports from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional,” Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, has acknowledged that the return of certain players to the squad this season will be highly unlikely. As a result, some of them may need to explore other options and find new teams during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Among the players facing uncertainty is Héctor Fort, who has seen limited playing time throughout the campaign. His situation has been precarious from the start, as he had to wait several weeks before making his first appearance. Unfortunately, his performances have not been convincing enough to secure a regular place in the squad.

He was only given a starting role when Jules Koundé was temporarily sidelined due to disciplinary reasons, rather than being selected based on tactical considerations or a strategic reshuffle.

Fort has struggled to establish himself in the team, particularly now that Koundé has regained top form, making competition for a starting position even more challenging. With uncertainty surrounding the club’s right-back position, Fort has not done enough to convince Flick that he deserves more playing time.

Some of his performances have been marked by defensive lapses, showcasing his inexperience and nervousness at the highest level. His lack of a consistent rhythm has also contributed to his struggles, making it difficult for him to earn the trust of the coaching staff.

Despite these challenges, Fort remains one of the most promising talents to emerge from La Masia. Many within the club’s youth development system believe he has the potential to become a top player. However, Flick has made it clear that he does not see the 19-year-old Spanish defender as part of his plans for the remainder of the season.

He has already communicated his decision to club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, urging them to begin searching for a new destination for Fort.

While a loan move appears to be the most likely scenario, a permanent transfer has not been ruled out. As a result, Fort’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain, and his time at the club could come to an end sooner than expected.
