A shocking development has erupted in Catalonia following Barcelona’s La Liga triumph! According to the newspaper El Nacional, one of the season’s biggest surprises has surfaced: Barcelona is set to part ways with one of its prized midfield talents — either Gavi or Fermín. One of them is certain to depart!

Barcelona has succeeded in generating considerable revenue recently, largely due to the team’s strong performances. However, their failure to reach the UEFA Champions League final caused a substantial financial setback.

As a result, club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco are under pressure to secure additional funds by offloading certain players — particularly those who are no longer regulars in the starting eleven or whose contracts are approaching their expiration dates.

According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, while much of the attention has been focused on the futures of Ansu Fati and Ronald Araújo — both reportedly not in new manager Hansi Flick’s plans — as well as Andreas Christensen and Frenkie de Jong, whose contracts run until 2026, other members of the squad could also be heading for the exit.

Notably, there’s growing uncertainty surrounding young midfielders Fermín López and Pablo Páez, better known as Gavi. Both players have struggled to cement their places within the squad and have gradually found themselves playing secondary roles.

The situation concerning Gavi is particularly sensitive. Once a central figure in Xavi Hernández’s project at Camp Nou and a favorite among supporters, Gavi’s career has been disrupted by a serious knee injury he suffered over a year ago. Though he continues his recovery, doubts remain about whether he can return to his previous top form.

This uncertainty has fueled speculation that Barcelona might consider parting ways with him if a substantial offer comes in. Gavi had aimed to establish himself as a permanent starter and has often impressed when given opportunities off the bench, leaving him frustrated about his limited role.

Meanwhile, Fermín López is also believed to be unhappy with his situation. Reports suggest that he feels overlooked, especially with the preference being shown to other midfielders like Dani Olmo in the starting lineup. As Barcelona prepares for the upcoming transfer window, it appears increasingly likely that either Gavi or Fermín will be moved on to ease the club’s financial burdens.
