Arsenal appears ready to make a significant financial commitment this summer in their pursuit of a proven, high-caliber striker.
According to a well-regarded journalist, the North London club is prepared to invest £62 million to secure a “world-class” forward, steering away from their previously reported interests in strikers like Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak. This strategic move signals Arsenal’s intent to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.
The striker in question is Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who is currently on Napoli’s books. The 25-year-old forward spent the past season on loan at Galatasaray after unsuccessful transfer negotiations with Chelsea and a Saudi Arabian side last year.
Well-known journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu recently revealed that Arsenal is now firmly in the race for Osimhen’s signature. He reported that Arsenal is ready to meet the £62 million release clause attached to Osimhen’s contract, positioning them as a serious contender for the striker’s services.
Sabuncuoglu noted that both Arsenal and Manchester United are actively pursuing Osimhen. He explained that while Manchester United’s interest has been widely covered in recent weeks, Arsenal has now officially entered the competition.
The journalist described Arsenal’s chances as fluctuating between 49 and 51 percent daily as the summer transfer window approaches, indicating a highly competitive race for the Nigerian’s signature.
In addition to the Premier League giants, Paris Saint-Germain is also keeping tabs on the situation. Meanwhile, Galatasaray, where Osimhen played last season, is eager to retain the forward on a permanent basis but is currently working to secure the necessary funds for a deal.
Adding another layer to the negotiations, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently discussed on the GIVEMESPORT Market Madness podcast that Osimhen’s current salary demands could pose a challenge.
The striker reportedly earns £413,000 per week at Napoli, and any potential suitor, including Arsenal, would likely need to match this figure to secure his services — a factor that could complicate negotiations.
