Clément Lenglet, who had joined Barcelona in 2018 from Sevilla, saw his time with the Catalan giants officially come to an end. Both the club and the player agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent, effectively closing his chapter at Camp Nou.
During his six-year spell at Barcelona, Lenglet made 160 appearances in various competitions, scoring seven goals and securing several trophies, including the Spanish League title, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup. Despite these achievements, he gradually fell out of favor and was loaned out in recent seasons.
In the latest development, Spanish side Atlético Madrid announced that Lenglet has signed a new contract with them, extending his stay until the summer of 2028.
This decision follows a successful loan stint last season, during which the French defender featured in 34 matches for Atlético, scoring three goals and providing two assists. His consistent performances impressed the club’s management, convincing them to secure his services on a permanent basis.
