Pedro Neto, who has been linked with Arsenal in recent months, experienced a promising start to the season, but it was abruptly halted by a potentially severe hamstring injury. Playing against Newcastle United with Wolves last Saturday, it seemed like a continuation of his impressive form.
Neto contributed to Wolves’ first-half goal, marking his seventh assist in just 10 games this season, in addition to his one goal against Luton Town. However, the remainder of the match took an unfortunate turn as the winger had to be substituted due to a hamstring injury.
During a sprint, Neto pulled up, clutching the back of his leg, and was carried off on a stretcher. While it’s not confirmed, the use of a stretcher suggests a grade two or three hamstring injury, which would likely sideline him for at least a month, and possibly up to three.
This injury is unlikely to impact Arsenal’s pursuit of Neto since a January transfer was already improbable. The Telegraph reported that Neto had informed sporting director Matt Hobbs that he wouldn’t seek a transfer in January. Furthermore, Wolves had no intentions of selling Neto mid-season.
However, this injury adds to Neto’s recent history of injuries, which might influence Arsenal’s interest in signing him. Neto has spent a significant portion of the last two seasons sidelined, making his long-term fitness a valid concern for any potential suitors.
