Jack Grealish, a key player for Manchester City, is determined to move past his omission from the England squad as the new Premier League season approaches.
Grealish was left out of Gareth Southgate’s final 23-man roster for Euro 2024 after a lackluster season with City. Instead, the in-form Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer were selected over him.
While this exclusion is a setback for Grealish, it has allowed him to fully focus on preparing for the upcoming season with his club.
Although pre-season training has yet to start, Grealish has been seen actively training in videos posted on social media. The Mirror reports that the 28-year-old has notified Manchester City that he will return to training several days ahead of manager Pep Guardiola’s scheduled start date.
Last season, Grealish’s opportunities were limited due to several injuries, with Guardiola often preferring Belgian Jeremy Doku on the left wing.
However, the upcoming pre-season tour presents a prime opportunity for Grealish to make an impression, especially with City’s first competitive match being the Community Shield against Manchester United.
Grealish’s commitment to early training highlights his resilience and determination, showing that he is not dwelling on Southgate’s decision. It would not be surprising to see Grealish return to the international squad in the future, but for now, his focus is firmly on his club duties.
Grealish recently appeared as a substitute during England’s 3-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina. England has had a rocky start to Euro 2024, with a narrow win over Serbia and a 1-1 draw with Denmark. Many fans believe that Grealish’s inclusion could have helped alleviate some of the team’s current struggles.
