Manchester United supporters are jubilant over the news that Leny Yoro is set to join their club. Initially, Yoro was inclined to move to the Spanish champions, Real Madrid. However, Manchester United is now on the brink of completing the deal.
The club plans to put Yoro through a medical examination before finalizing the transfer, which has been agreed upon with Lille for £52 million. In essence, Manchester United’s stronger desire to sign Yoro has persuaded him to move away from Lille this summer.
According to Romano, who spoke via YouTube, in recent days Yoro felt that Real Madrid would not match Manchester United’s proposal.
Real Madrid never assured Yoro, his agent, or Lille that they would match Manchester United’s offer and sign him immediately.
Instead, Real Madrid’s strategy was different. They proposed a deal worth around 25 million euros, indicating that if Lille accepted it within a week, that would be fine; otherwise, Yoro could join them as a free agent starting next season.
Faced with this choice, Yoro had to decide between Real Madrid’s offer and Manchester United’s more aggressive approach. Manchester United had a bid accepted, presented an important project to Yoro, and wanted him to become one of the team’s superstars.
Their strong approach and ability to convince Yoro led to him giving the green light to travel and complete his move to Manchester United.
Manchester United is eager to expedite the process. Romano mentioned that he might be announcing his famous “here we go” catchphrase within the next few hours. The club wants to act swiftly to finalize the deal, fearing that other clubs, especially Real Madrid, could try to hijack it. At the moment, all parties feel confident that Yoro is ready to join Manchester United.
Liverpool had also shown interest in Yoro, considering him a prime target. However, they never believed they could outbid Real Madrid for his signature.
Romano added that Yoro is expected to sign a five-year contract with Manchester United, with an option for a sixth year.
