Manchester United is set to meet Real Madrid’s valuation for the promising left-back, Miguel Gutierrez, as part of their summer transfer strategy. Reports from Spain indicate that this move is a crucial step for the Red Devils as they aim to enhance their squad at Old Trafford.
This transfer comes during a period of significant transformation at Manchester United, highlighted by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 27.7 percent stake in the club earlier this year.
Additionally, the appointment of Dan Ashworth as the new sporting director strengthens the club’s leadership, paving the way for strategic player acquisitions.
Transfer rumors have been rampant this summer, with renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming Manchester United’s priority to sign a new left-back.
Romano stated last month, “Manchester United will sign a left-back because they know Tyrell Malacia is struggling, and with Luke Shaw’s injuries this season, they need a young, talented, and important left-back. This is the club’s plan, and it aligns with the manager’s vision.”
The need for a dependable left-back became clear last season when injuries to both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia forced Diogo Dalot to play out of position on the left. Reports from Spain suggest that Miguel Gutierrez is seen as the solution to this issue.
Gutierrez, who joined Girona in 2022, has made 76 appearances and played a key role in their qualification for the Champions League last season.
Despite his contributions, Real Madrid has opted to exercise their buy-back option, valued at eight million euros, with plans to sell him. Real Madrid has agreed to accept Manchester United’s offer of €40 million (£34 million) for Gutierrez.
This positions Manchester United as the frontrunner to secure the Spanish international, outpacing competitors like Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
Manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen to add Gutierrez to his squad, driven by dissatisfaction with his current left-back options, highlighting the significance of this transfer for the club.
In addition to Gutierrez, Manchester United is also eyeing other potential signings. Bologna’s director, Giovanni Sartori, has indicated that Joshua Zirkzee is almost certain to leave the club this summer, with a 99% chance of departure. This has sparked speculation about Manchester United’s interest in Zirkzee as they continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new season.
With these developments, Manchester United fans can expect an exciting and transformative summer as the club works to secure key signings and strengthen its squad for future challenges.
