Manchester United has reportedly had a £52 million offer accepted by Lille for their 18-year-old defender, Leny Yoro. This young prospect has been a key target for United’s defense.
Despite this development, United might still face competition from other top clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain, who are also interested in Yoro. The player himself has yet to make a final decision about his next move.
Sources such as Mail Sport indicate that Lille is keen to proceed with United’s bid, aiming to finalize their transfer activities before the new season begins. Meanwhile, The Guardian reports that Manchester United is actively negotiating with Yoro’s representatives to close the deal.
However, United manager Erik ten Hag may still face a challenge in securing Yoro, as the player reportedly favors a move to Real Madrid. Real Madrid, having recently signed Kylian Mbappe, are not prepared to match United’s offer of £42 million plus an additional £10 million in potential add-ons.
Instead, Real Madrid appears more inclined to wait until next summer when Yoro would be available as a free agent. This stance from Madrid is prompting Lille to push for a quicker resolution with United.
In addition to Yoro, Manchester United is also eyeing other defensive reinforcements. They have shown interest in Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt to bolster their squad during this transfer window.
This transfer period has seen Manchester United generating funds for new signings by selling academy graduate Willy Kambwala to Villarreal and agreeing to a £30 million move for Mason Greenwood to Marseille. The club has already made its first significant signing of the summer by acquiring Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5 million.
United’s proactive approach in the transfer market underscores their intent to strengthen the squad and compete at the highest levels in the upcoming season. The outcome of their pursuit of Leny Yoro will be crucial in shaping their defensive lineup.
