Mason Greenwood has made his first social media post following his permanent transfer to Marseille. Manchester United confirmed the transfer, valued at £26.6 million (€31.6 million), to the French club. The 22-year-old forward traveled to France on Wednesday to finalize the move and has now signed a five-year contract with Marseille.

In a statement, Marseille expressed their delight in acquiring Greenwood from Manchester United. The statement highlighted Greenwood’s versatility, noting his ability to use both feet and play in various offensive positions.

Over his career with Manchester United, Greenwood scored 35 goals and provided 12 assists in 129 appearances. He also earned an international call-up in September 2020 at the age of 19.

Greenwood took to Instagram to share his excitement about the move, posting a photo of himself signing for Marseille with the caption, “Really excited for this new chapter. Allez l’OM!”

Manchester United also released a statement confirming Greenwood’s departure to Marseille. They noted his contributions to the team since his debut in 2019, including 35 goals in 129 matches.

The statement wished Greenwood well in his future endeavors and mentioned that the club has included a sell-on clause in the transfer deal, ensuring they will receive a portion of any future transfer fee.

After spending the previous season on loan at Getafe in Spain, Manchester United decided that it would be best for Greenwood to continue his career away from Old Trafford.
