Chelsea is reportedly making significant efforts to secure a move for a top player this summer, offering a substantial salary to persuade one of their potential recruits to join them instead of Barcelona.
During this transfer window, Chelsea has been highly active, bringing in several new talents. Among their acquisitions are young striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona, Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa for £19 million, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City for £30 million. Guiu, who impressed with a game-winning goal on his Barcelona debut, is seen as a promising talent for the future.
Dewsbury-Hall, reuniting with manager Enzo Maresca, brings considerable experience, having scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists last season.
Despite these additions, Chelsea continues to seek a new striker to enhance their attacking options. Nicolas Jackson remains a key part of their plans, but the club is also considering a bid for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are exploring various targets to find the right fit for the team.
In addition to a striker, Chelsea is also interested in strengthening their wide positions. They recently competed with Bayern Munich for Michael Olise, who ultimately chose to join Vincent Kompany’s side.
Now, Chelsea is focusing on Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams as a potential alternative. Williams, who has impressed at Euro 2024, is a target for both Chelsea and Barcelona.
Chelsea is prepared to offer Williams a lucrative deal, making him one of their highest-paid players with a proposed salary of around £327,000 per week, equivalent to €20 million per year.
They are also willing to meet his £51 million release clause. Although Williams currently favors a move to Barcelona, Chelsea is hopeful that their financial incentives and persistent efforts will sway him to join them instead.
