David Ornstein has revealed that Arsenal is actively pursuing a loan deal for Raheem Sterling, with Ben Jacobs adding that Sterling is keen on making the move. Chelsea has informed Sterling that he no longer has a future at the club, and manager Enzo Maresca has made it clear that he does not want Sterling in his squad.
Sterling, with his vast experience of 379 Premier League appearances, 123 goals, and 62 assists, is now seeking a new club. Having previously played for Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool, his domestic options are somewhat limited.
Manchester United and Arsenal have been mentioned as possible destinations since Maresca decided not to include him in his plans. Initially, reports suggested that a move to Arsenal was unlikely despite Mikel Arteta’s interest, but recent developments indicate otherwise.
Ornstein’s report from The Athletic suggests that Arsenal is in discussions with Chelsea regarding a potential loan for Sterling. The club is reportedly working to finalise the deal and is hopeful of reaching an agreement on personal terms.
Although Sterling’s high wages at Chelsea may require Arsenal to pay a loan fee, they are reportedly willing to consider this option.
Ben Jacobs also notes that Sterling is excited about the possibility of joining Arsenal, particularly because of his strong relationship with Arteta.
The winger is reportedly prepared to undergo a medical once the deal is finalised, indicating that the transfer could be completed quickly. Given these developments, it seems highly likely that Sterling could become an Arsenal player before the transfer window closes.
