BREAKING NEWS: Manchester United has finalized the signing of a sensational Ballon d’Or contender with a contract running until 2028. Everything is in place as fans celebrate their fourth signing of the summer.

Manchester United appear to be inching closer to securing deals for Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Both players have fallen out of favor under Bayern’s current manager, Vincent Kompany, and the club seems open to their departures.

According to ESPN, Manchester United has intensified efforts to sign the pair, with Bayern Munich willing to sell them for a combined fee of £55 million. However, United’s current bid is below Bayern’s expectations.

Personal terms are not anticipated to be an issue, as both players have previously worked with Erik ten Hag and are eager to reunite with him at Old Trafford. They have agreed to five-year contracts, pending their transfer to Manchester United.

Under the new partial ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United is focused on building a competitive squad to stay at the top of the Premier League.

This has made the club particularly active in the transfer market. The Red Devils have already signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.

Zirkzee has not yet joined the squad for pre-season, while Yoro sustained a serious injury in pre-season training, sidelining him for three months.

Despite Yoro’s signing, Manchester United still needs another starting center-back to partner with Lisandro Martinez. De Ligt, familiar with Ten Hag’s system, is seen as a long-term leader for the defense.

Mazraoui, a versatile full-back who primarily plays as a right-back but can also cover the left side, would be an upgrade over Aaron Wan-Bissaka, particularly in attacking capabilities.

Acquiring both players for under £55 million is considered a strategic move for Manchester United. It seems more a question of when, not if, the Red Devils will finalize the transfers of De Ligt and Mazraoui. The timing of these deals remains to be seen.
