Atletico Madrid reportedly had advanced talks with Manchester City to sign striker Julian Alvarez, according to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo. The Spanish club is said to have agreed on a five-year contract with Alvarez and discussed the terms with his representatives.
The next step involves negotiating the transfer fee with Manchester City, which is expected to be around €90 million, comprising €70 million upfront and an additional €20 million in add-ons.
Fans are skeptical about whether this move will materialize. On social media platform X, there is doubt about the likelihood of Alvarez leaving City. Atletico Madrid is not the only club interested in the 24-year-old striker; Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly considering approaches.
Alvarez is currently focused on his duties with Argentina’s Olympic team in Paris. He has expressed that he will evaluate his options and decide on his future once he returns to Manchester after the Olympics. The player has consistently maintained a positive attitude towards Manchester City, stating that he feels happy and relaxed at the club.
He emphasized that his annual review of his career is a normal process for him and not a sign of discontent with his current situation.
