According to a report from Footballwave, scouts from Manchester City and Liverpool were in attendance during Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last weekend. The focus of their visit was to observe two standout young talents: Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala. Both players are highly regarded not only in Germany but across Europe as some of the most promising young footballers.
Liverpool had previously been considered favourites to sign these players. However, the presence of Manchester City scouts at the match suggests that the competition for their signatures might be fiercer than initially expected. Both Premier League clubs are now keeping a close eye on these rising stars.
Jamal Musiala, who is 20 years old, joined Bayern Munich from Chelsea’s youth academy in 2019. Since then, he has become a crucial player for the German giants, making 150 appearances across all competitions and contributing 38 goals and 26 assists. His impressive performances have made him a key player for Bayern and a target for top clubs across Europe.
Florian Wirtz, on the other hand, has been equally impressive for Bayer Leverkusen since joining from Koln in 2020. The 20-year-old midfielder has played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s success this season. He has scored five goals and provided nine assists, helping Xabi Alonso’s team to climb to the top of the Bundesliga table after 22 matches. Wirtz’s performances have caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City.
With both players being young and highly talented, their futures are the subject of intense speculation. The presence of scouts from two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs at the recent Bundesliga match indicates that a transfer battle may be on the horizon. Liverpool, once seen as the frontrunners for both Musiala and Wirtz, now faces significant competition from Manchester City in the race to secure these promising talents. The upcoming transfer windows will likely be crucial in determining where these players will continue their careers.
