Manchester United vs Liverpool second half live

Manchester United are making their final preparations at Old Trafford for this afternoon’s 4pm clash against Liverpool. Erik ten Hag has selected a starting lineup that he believes can overcome their Merseyside rivals and recover from last week’s disappointing loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.

With the international break looming, back-to-back defeats would be a tough pill to swallow for United, especially with a 13-day gap before they can face Southampton and attempt to get back on track.

To address the situation, Ten Hag has made three changes to the team for today’s match. One of these changes was necessary due to Mason Mount’s recent injury setback.

In the starting XI, Amad Diallo, despite scoring United’s only goal against Brighton, has been replaced by Alejandro Garnacho. Surprisingly, Marcus Rashford retains his spot in the lineup.

New signings Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt are also making their first starts for the club. De Ligt has been selected over Harry Maguire, while Zirkzee is currently the only fit centre-forward available for Ten Hag, making his inclusion essential.

As United take to the field, they will be hoping to avoid a second consecutive loss and head into the international break on a positive note.
