William Saliba, Arsenal’s standout defender, has caught the attention of Real Madrid, who are reportedly eager to sign him following his impressive performances at the Emirates Stadium. After a series of successful loan stints at Saint-Étienne, Nice, and Marseille, Saliba has become an integral figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
French outlet Le 10 Sport reports that Real Madrid has made Saliba their top priority for the next summer transfer window and has already initiated discussions with his representatives about a possible move. This comes after their failed bid to sign Leny Yoro, who ultimately joined Manchester United in a £58.7 million deal.
However, Arsenal is expected to resist any attempts to lure Saliba away, as he is seen as a key part of their future. The club recently extended his contract until 2027, underscoring his value.
Saliba himself has expressed his commitment to Arsenal, stating that his decision to renew was easy. Reflecting on last season, he said, “It was a really good season, but unfortunately, I couldn’t finish it due to injury. I want more—I want to stay and achieve great things with this amazing club.”
Saliba has made it clear that he has lofty ambitions with Arsenal, expressing his desire to win major trophies. “I haven’t achieved anything yet. I want to win everything with this club. We have the coach, the character, and the players to do it. Every year, we’re getting stronger.”
He also pointed to the team’s improvements going into the new season, noting the better mentality and increased experience from the previous campaign. “We have better players and a good mentality. Last season gave us important experience, and we’re confident that we can accomplish something special this year.”
Mikel Arteta has commended the developing partnership between Saliba and fellow center-back Gabriel Magalhães, which has been crucial to Arsenal’s success. Arteta praised their chemistry, saying, “Their development has been remarkable. They’ve built a unique bond, and the level they’re showing is incredible.”
As the next transfer window looms, Saliba’s future will remain a focal point, but both he and Arteta appear determined to continue striving for success at Arsenal.
